Challenges that Web Security Face in the current Computing Era
Web hosting is not a simple matter but rather, it involves multiple technologies that operate in many server machines. The amount of security problems on the Web is constantly increasing. However, they tend to lean in some particular categories. Attackers are focused on Web hosts and websites for different reasons. It is these reasons which determines the kind of actions which they decide to do on the Websites as well as other security problems of the Web hosts (Stuart, and Scambray, 2000).

Hackers and thieves target websites for information, which they use on committing fraud and other related activities. This may consist of redid card fraud and theft on identity. Confidential information that is stored on servers that are operated by Web hosts may be purposeful stolen by these Web host or employees for use in other interests. This has happened in many organizations.
Theft of Password
Many of the websites store passwords on their users on their databases alongside other confidential information. Such information may then be used by hackers in obtaining the password information, which they then use to log into the accounts of the users, the chance of an account being breached increases especially when a user’s password is weak (Smich, 2010, 1).
Another challenge, which the web security is facing in this computing error, is the distributed Denial service (DDos). These hinder the website services through overloading the servers with overwhelming requests from the users. In particular, DDoS is where “botnets” and “rings” are used with numerous computers sending multiple requests at the same time to a particular Website server. In this situation, the server becomes overwhelmed by the large number of requests and thus, dramatically slowing down or halting the regular access by users. If the server or servers are compromised in this manner, it creates opportunity for future attacks and hacking. In most cases, DDos attack consists of a group of workers as compared to a single individual (Bruce, 2000, 245).
The same way as office or household PCs could be affected by malware so is web servers. In essence, Web servers include computers with server software as well as other technologies that run on them. These servers also get attacked by malicious software in similar way to a computer. This malicious software may be designated to do various things such as stealing data, or simply damaging the functionality of the website on a particular server. This malicious software may also be used to retrieve information entered by users when signing up for website related services (Smich, 2010, 2).
Security Weaknesses in Web Browsers
Most Web browsers have both design issues and a number of weaknesses. The severity of these issues may be heighted by the frequency of the updates provided in resolving security and other issues as well as the tightness of the browser to the operating system or whether the web browser is also utilized for other functions such downloading or installing software (Bruce, 2000,117).
